Scammed when selling a junk vehicle. The man at the counter told me he would give me X amount of $ for it but he would have to take the vehicle and weigh it first, then he'd pay me.
Problem was it was easy to see the vehicle was all there, and anyone could find out the weight just by looking up the specs on, or Googling the vehicle. Meaning he knew exactly what top weight, and price on the vehicle was before he even hauled it off. Of course he supposedly weighs it without you there to watch him, and mysteriously enough, the vehicle lost substantial weight, and I was given much less than originally quoted for it.
It sounded like a scam from the start, and turned out, it clearly was. Google the weight of your vehicle first, then, before you do anything else ask what the price per pound is, and if there are any hidden charges, then, as long as the car is all there, you will know exactly what you should get before they even come get the car. If its not all there, I strongly recommend you watch as they weigh it.
Since its easy enough to know what you should get for the vehicle, you may also want to get on the phone, and shop around for the best price you can get at salvage yards from, say, a 30 to 50 mile radius or even further.

The lady at the counter by was a bit disappointingl. She didn't explain the process of junking a car very be well.I felt like I was required to know. Alittle social skill would go along way.
