Seems to be the highest price for steel in the area, bulk steel scrap seems to be their specialty. Drive up onto the scale weigh the whole vehicle, go to the scrap mountain, backup and dump your bulk on hr ground, put your higher end back in your truck and weigh again. Then you can go to the building to weigh the smaller breakdown and or get cashed out. It's a fast process never a wait to dump bulk which is great. Other yards give you an individual box to go up and that takes longer to wait. For the smaller breakdown like higher end metals (copper brass wire) there's other yards that are higher price than here. A yard i used to go to in the west suburbs has their prices itemized on a white board by the scale so you were not clueless at what everything is worth, I wish these city yards would post their prices just like that so everyone knows. The only way to find out is to get weighed and you see the receipt after. So I suggest take a small amount of high end stuff to multiple yards and see who pays the most. I used to be loyal to one specific yard now I go where the most payout is for each item.

They are BY FAR THE FAIREST PRICES THAT I KNOW OF.. THEY SEPERATE ALL THE BIG MONEY SCRAP AND EVEN GIVE YOU MORE THAN JUST SCRAP PRICES FOR CONDENSORS AND COMPRESSORS MOST SCRAP YARDS WILL TELL YOU THEY AREN'T WORTH ANYTHING BUT SCRAP.. NOT THEM..ITS WORTH THE TRIP IF YOU WANT WHAT YOU DESERVE AND NOT GET SCREWED. BEST SCRAP YARD ON WEST SIDE.. TAKE MY WORD

Good staffing and rates. It is a little confusing to get started, but once you have it you are good to go. Marking 4 due to lack of directions.
To get started.:
1. Go into the front desk and let them know you need a number
2. They will process you ID and print you a number which you keep
3. If you are hauling heavy cast iron/etc weight your truck up front, run left off the scale, dump your materials and reweigh. Finally go to the front office with your number and get a receipt. Skip to step 6.
4. If you are turning in high value materials (aluminum/etc) get a cart and roll it to the scale. Keep you number and get a receipt.
5. Take your receipt and go to the front window. You will get a payslip.
6. Use the machines to the right of the front office to get paid out.

I enjoy coming to this facility. For a scrap establishment they are pretty clean and organized. They have good customer service and always try to give you the best price. even if it's a bad economy for metal, they will always try their best to match the best price in the city. Even a little more if you bring large quantities, usually if its more than 100 pounds depending on the material, they will try to compensate you even better. I would recommend this place 5/5 to any serious scrapper. Very good prices and loyal customer service.
